Global Land Cover Viewer
Developed by Nazka for the Flemish Institute for Technological Research (VITO), the Global Land Cover Viewer enables policymakers, scientists, citizens and media to access detailed land cover information worldwide. The viewer uses satellite data from the European Copernicus satellites and shows annual land use.
The interactive map allows to explore different layers in great detail, compare statistics between countries, regions and years. All data is free to download. The interface is interactive and user-friendly, and allows the user to display annual changes in land cover and change processes for a single year or cumulatively for all years up to the selected year.
Information on land cover and land use is important for monitoring climate change and monitoring global emissions. The Global Land Cover Viewer is a valuable tool for those involved in monitoring our land use and climate change impacts.
