With Mauro, a Bachelor of Applied Computer Science student at UCLL, and Isabel, a Digital Experience Design student at Thomas More, we have two talented interns on board. Mauro focuses on full-stack web development, while Isabel specializes in user experience design. Their combined skills complement each other perfectly, bringing a fresh perspective to both technical and design challenges.
At Nazka Mapps, interns get the opportunity to immerse themselves in the latest technologies and methodologies in the world of digital maps and geospatial services. Isabel and Mauro have now completed their onboarding and had their first introduction to our technology stack. They are guided throughout their internship by our experienced developers, Natnael and Quinten, who mentor them during their journey.
Interns at Nazka Mapps follow a structured learning path that allows them to gradually develop their skills while working on real projects. The process is divided into four key phases, with technology, development, and hands-on experience at the core.
Through engaging and challenging exercises, interns learn to work with our mapframe technology. They quickly deploy their own interactive map, display data, and customize the look & feel. This hands-on approach gives them valuable insights into how we develop digital mapping platforms at Nazka.
Next, interns work on a proof-of-concept, their first opportunity to tackle a problem and develop a working solution. They go through different project stages, including analysis, wireframing, design, and development, all with guidance and feedback from experienced team members.
In this phase, interns refine their proof-of-concept and prepare it for online deployment. They learn how to optimize, test, debug, and deploy an application, gaining crucial experience in real-world software development.
Finally, interns present their final project to the team. They share their insights, discuss challenges, and receive valuable feedback. This step not only helps them grow technically but also enhances their communication and presentation skills—both essential in any professional environment.
This structured approach ensures that Isabel and Mauro not only develop their technical expertise but also learn to collaborate in an agile environment and independently work on a project from start to finish, with the guidance of their mentors.
At Nazka Mapps, we strongly believe in the value of internships—not only as a way for students to gain hands-on experience but also as an opportunity for us to discover and nurture young talent. We are excited to guide Isabel and Mauro on their journey and look forward to seeing the results of their projects.
Good luck, Isabel and Mauro! 🚀
